The event featured here, "Conversation with Judith Butler" (21 July 2011, Conservatorium, University of Stellenbosch), was introduced by Prof Meg Samuelson (English, US) as one that was being presented by six different entities: The Department of English and the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the University of Stellenbosch, the Transitions and Translations Research Theme at US, the Centre for African Studies and the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town, and the Centre for Humanities Research at the University of the Western Cape. The event was billed as "Conversation with Judith Butler: Doing & Undoing Gender; War, Precarity & Grievable Life; Jewish Anti-Zionist Critique".
